Overview The SDSU Research Foundation WIC Program is the largest WIC agency in San Diego County, with approximately 80 employees providing a variety of nutrition services to over 26,000 participants per month who are high risks individuals and families from diverse language and cultural backgrounds.
Under the direction of the WIC Associate Director of IT & Facilities, the WIC Operations Assistant performs day-to-day tasks in support of WIC Operations such delivering supplies, overseeing equipment/supply storage and organization, making minor facility repairs and distribution of WIC materials.
Responsibilities The WIC Operations Assistant is responsible for but not limited to:
Warehouse Support 70%
Prepares orders for delivery of supplies, interoffice mail, breast pumps, cardstock, small furniture, light equipment and document boxes; loads vehicle, transports and delivers items to various WIC locations. Performs routine tasks such as tracking, sorting, organizing and maintaining inventory of supplies (i.e., electronic equipment, nutrition education documents, and breastfeeding and outreach materials). Assists with equipment inventory and proper disposal/recycle of items; maintains schedule of shredding of confidential data. Assist with organizing, sorting, stapling, copying and distributing printed materials such as nutrition education, breastfeeding support and outreach materials.
Maintenance & Repairs 20%
Responsible for making minor facility repairs involving plumbing, painting and window coverings. Assembles furniture, cabinets and waiting room toys. Connect and disconnect computer and electronics equipment when transported between sites. Assist Breastfeeding Coordinator with cleaning of breast pumps.
Other Duties and Responsibilities as Assigned 5%
Performs special projects as assigned by management; attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
Qualifications No previous work experience or education required
6-months of hands-on experience performing general facilities and systems maintenance, repair work, shuttle driving and/or warehouse work Previous experience working for WIC, Public Health or Social Services programs Previous experience using MS Word and Excel
ADDITIONAL APPLICANT INFORMATION:
This position is responsible for driving a WIC vehicle and will require access to reliable transportation and proof of valid CDL and auto insurance.
This is a part time position, working 16-hours per week
