CDPH is currently hiring a Research Scientist Staff - Reporting and Analytics Lead (Epi/Bio) position within our Center for Infectious Diseases, Division of Communicable Disease Control. In this role, you will serve as a subject-matter expert in the analysis, evaluation, and dissemination of data from the California Immunization Registry (CAIR) and other immunization-related datasets.
Key Responsibilities:
Leads and collaborates on projects related to immunization information system databases and vaccine data pipelines
Develops and implements epidemiological methods and analytical models to assess vaccination warehouse data
Ensures data integrity across all systems and maintains, updates, and documents databases
Standardizes and automates data collection, reporting processes, and workflows to improve accuracy and efficiency, and identifies opportunities to enhance CAIR data quality and utility
Works with CDPH leadership to align reporting with business objectives and support strategic planning, and participates in decision-making processes, system testing, and approval of system upgrades or changes
Disseminates findings and recommendations, implications of data analysis projects, project evaluation, research, or other activities through peer-reviewed publication, professional conferences, seminars, and/or other forums as needed
Applies epidemiologic and public health informatics expertise to lead the development and maintenance of datasets, dashboards, and analytical reports that describe vaccination progress
Monitors data performance, troubleshoots issues, and ensures data accuracy and completeness for reporting outputs
Establishes and maintains data collection, storage, and security procedures to ensure data integrity and compliance, and identifies and mitigates potential risks related to data security or project timelines
Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams and provides subject-matter expertise for the development and improvement of new versions of CAIR and related data systems
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of professional scientific research experience in epidemiology/biostatistics or closely related specialty, which shall include at least one (1) year of experience equivalent to that of a Research Scientist, Range B and possession of a master’s or doctoral degree in the required scientific specialty or in a closely related specialty.
