What You Will Be Doing: As the Laboratory Operations Manager in Public Health Laboratories, you will provide operational leadership to the Department of Health. Your role will ensure that laboratory logistics and facilities support accurate scientific data collection for disease surveillance, prevention, and control. In this position, you will represent the Chief in their absence and act as directed by them.
You will address various logistical components, legal and contractual issues, strategic planning, fiscal responsibility, billing, facility safety, security, maintenance, quality assurance, and developing public health policies related to laboratories in coordination with the Chief. Additionally, you may represent the public health laboratories before the legislature and other public bodies and prepare and respond to inquiries from the Department of Law and public reviews when regulations affecting our daily practices require interpretation. License(s)/Certification(s): Applicants must meet federal requirements and qualifications for a technical supervisor in a high-complexity clinical laboratory under 42 CFR 493.1449 for at least one (1) specialty.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in biological, health or behavioral science; health practice; education; public, healthcare, or business administration; or a closely related field; AND/OR Progressively responsible professional supervisory experience performing health program planning, development, coordination, evaluation, or implementation; providing technical health care assistance and consultation; conducting health care utilization or quality assurance examinations; and/or delivering health care service.
