The Center for Health Care Quality (CHCQ) at the California Department of Public Health (CPDH) focuses on ensuring and enhancing healthcare standard. This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by overseeing the review, evaluation, inspection, and certification of health facilities and agencies as to their compliance with State and Federal laws, regulations, and investigations of complaints. Carries out program activities in a specific region of the state for those facilities and agencies under the jurisdiction of the Center. The Nurse Surveyor Supervisor II (NSS II) ensures that all Department and Program mandates, policies and procedures are carried out in an appropriate and consistent manner. Up to 10% travel may be required.

ABILITY TO: Reason logically. Analyze data and present ideas and information effectively both orally and in writing. Consult with facility staff or other interested parties on a wide variety of areas pertaining to the healthcare delivery system.
SPECIAL PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Ability to independently represent the Licensing & Certification Division and the CDPH in a professional manner while in contact with licensed healthcare facility staff, residents, and the public. Ability to take initiative, and work both independently and as a team member.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with co-workers, facilities, other government agencies, and the public. Ability to interact with individuals of varying personality types and personal backgrounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Efficiently perform assigned tasks under demanding and competing deadlines. Ability to comprehend both written and oral information necessary to perform assigned tasks and complete assigned objectives. Ability to think and reason in analyzing quantitative and qualitative information.
