Schedule:  Regularly Mondays – Fridays; shift ranges from 8:00am-4:30pm, with some evenings shifts from 12pm – 9pm. Regular days off Saturdays and Sundays or depending on the needs of the department.??

Overview

• Reports to:  Chief of Rehabilitation

Key Responsibilities

• Provide medical and rehabilitation care to residents with physical impairments.
• Manage SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility) and ARF (Acute Rehabilitation Facility) patient panels.
• Attend general rehabilitation clinics.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (nurses, therapists, social workers).
• Design and oversee individualized rehabilitation programs.
• Perform and supervise relevant medical procedures.
• Educate patients and families.
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties

• Cover for fellow physiatrists and supervise staff as needed.
• Assist with recruitment, training, and staff development.
• Lead or participate in quality improvement and policy development.
• Serve on professional committees and as a Disaster Service Worker.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Valid California medical license (or eligibility to obtain one).
2. Board Certification or eligibility in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
3. Valid DEA registration.

Desired Qualifications & Attributes

• Experience with aging or geriatric populations.
• Additional training in geriatrics, palliative care, brain injury, pain medicine, spinal cord injury, or hospice care is welcomed.
• Compassionate, patient-centered, organized, and committed to professional growth.

Conditions of Employment

• Must be eligible for Medicare/Medicaid billing.
• Must have or obtain:
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Valid third-party billable provider certification
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• All conditions must be met within 2 weeks prior to the start date.
