As the Supervisor for the Health Workforce Analysis and Planning Unit, you’ll play a critical role in tackling workforce challenges, improving healthcare access, and guiding data-driven policy decisions. You’ll lead a team of analysts to develop workforce analytics and surveillance systems that address healthcare shortages, particularly in underserved and rural communities. Your work will directly impact strategic workforce planning, policy development, and healthcare access across the state.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a team of healthcare analysts, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance oversight to support workforce research and planning Initiatives.
Assess healthcare workforce trends and develop data-driven recommendations that inform state policies, with a focus on underserved communities.
Use data analysis and modeling techniques to evaluate how public health emergencies affect healthcare workforce capacity and distribution.
Analyze the impact and effectiveness of health workforce programs, policies, and interventions, with a focus on equity, sustainability, and opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Oversee healthcare provider shortage area designations and contribute to strategies that improve workforce distribution.
Secure and manage funding for workforce analysis projects, ensuring budgets and deliverables are met.
Partner with healthcare organizations, academic institutions, and government agencies to drive workforce initiatives and share key findings.
Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate insights to policymakers and the public.
What We’re looking for – Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must meet one of the required qualification options listed and any additional qualifications included in the required qualifications section.
Option 1: Ten years of professional experience in workforce analytics, quantitative research and analysis.
Option 2: Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Health Economics, Health Services Research, or a related field, AND five (5) years of professional experience in workforce analytics, quantitative research and analysis.
AND the following experience:
Proficiency in predictive modeling, public health research, workforce analysis, and applied epidemiology. Proficiency may be defined as and may include variations of the following experience:
Predictive Modeling: Experience developing and applying statistical or machine learning models to forecast outcomes, trends, or behaviors (e.g., disease spread, healthcare utilization) based on historical data.
Public Health Research: Experience designing and conducting research to identify health-related patterns, evaluate public health interventions, and provide actionable, evidence-based recommendations to improve population health outcomes.
Workforce Analysis: The capability to analyze workforce data, such as healthcare staffing levels, skills gaps, and demographic trends, to inform health workforce planning, policy development, and decision-making.
Applied Epidemiology: Practical skills in studying disease patterns, causes, and effects within populations, often using data to guide public health interventions and inform policy.
Demonstrated experience in grant writing, implementation, and reporting.
Experience leading or supervising multidisciplinary teams.
Experience building and maintaining partnerships across internal teams and external organizations.
Demonstrated experience translating complex data into actionable insights for public health impact.
Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., STATA, R, SQL, SAS) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). “Advanced proficiency” may be defined as and may include variations of the following experience:
Data Analysis Tools: The capability to write efficient and accurate scripts, queries, and code for data cleaning, transformation, and analysis in tools such as STATA, R, SQL, or SAS.
In-Depth Knowledge: Fully understands the features, functions, and capabilities of the tools or methods they are using.
