The Mission of the California Tobacco Prevention Program (CTPP) is to work toward achieving a tobacco-free California and to reduce tobacco-related illness and premature deaths by implementing programs to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke. CTPP is recruiting diverse candidates for our Chief, Health Equity and Local Programs Unit (Health Program Manager I) position. The candidate works under the general direction of the Health Program Manager II (HPM II), Chief, Health Equity and Community Engagement Section (HECES). The Health Program Manager I (HPM I), Chief, Health Equity and Local Programs Unit, provides daily supervision and guidance to a team of professional and technical staff. Activities include providing oversight, guidance, and direction to the more complex competitive grants and local health department funded projects and providing direction for local program special projects and initiatives. The HPM I also provides oversight and direction on efforts to effectively engage local communities in tobacco prevention efforts, including, but not limited to priority populations: Blacks/African American, Latino/a, Asian American, Pacific Islander, American Indian and Alaskan Native communities; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) people; people of low socioeconomic status or with limited education; rural residents; military personnel and veterans; individuals employed in jobs not covered by smoke-free workplace laws; people with substance use disorders or behavioral health conditions; people with disabilities; and school-age youth.
Travel is required 10% of the time within the State of California as well as to other states in the country, including occasional overnight stays.

Self-starter, detail oriented and organized, ability to multi-task complicated projects.
Excellent listening and writing skills. Communicate effectively and tactfully (verbally and in writing) when interacting with internal/external partners throughout the state and the general public.
Excellent time management and project management skills. Ability to complete tasks and provide a quality work product with minimal supervision.
Proficient in MS software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Develop and maintain knowledge and skills related to tasks and methodologies.
Ability to prioritize work and follow direction.
Ability to work on own and in team environment.
