Under the direction of a supervisor, performs and assists with technical laboratory work in the New Jersey Department of Health Public Health and Environmental laboratory. Work may include the handling and processing of laboratory specimens, data entry, specimen accessioning, specimen preparation, reagent preparation, record keeping, supply ordering, routine specimen analyses, and/or instrumentation calibration and maintenance.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of 60 semester hour credits from an accredited college or university which shall have included 24 semester hour credits in the biological and/or physical sciences.

NOTE: Successful completion of a certificate program in Clinical Laboratory Technology may be substituted for the above education.

NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required credits or certificate in Clinical Laboratory Technology may

substitute two (2) years of experience as a technician in a public health, hospital, clinical, or research laboratory

performing bacteriological, chemical, histological, serology, and/or virological tests.

LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, Is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
