Job Description and Duties
This position supports CDPH’s mission and strategic plan by supporting chronic disease evidence-based intervention programs that promote healthy behaviors, healthy communities, and improve the prevention, diagnosis, and management of chronic disease.
The candidate works under the Health Program Manager II (HPM II), Chief of the Program and Policy Section within the Chronic Disease Control Branch (CDCB). The Health Program Specialist (HPS) II is the Program Evaluation Specialist under the Program and Policy Section, with a focus on cardiovascular disease and diabetes prevention. The incumbent will be a part of and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team. The HPS II leads the organization, planning, coordination, development, and implementation of program evaluations. Coordinates collaborative evaluation reporting to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), statewide partners, and stakeholders while providing guidance and technical assistance to program staff, contractors, and key statewide partners. The incumbent develops, implements, refines, and evaluates various program components. Monitors program activities for compliance with objectives and reviews data collected by contractors to meet deliverables as outlined by the CDC. Engages with CDCB Research Scientists to assist with collecting, establishing, and assessing performance measure data; developing and writing evaluation plans and reports; and conducting baseline and ongoing assessments for programs.
