The Health Program Specialist I (HPSI) is responsible for a full range of advanced technical skills related to the assessment, planning and coordination, implementation, and evaluation of statewide projects, events, trainings, and technical assistance initiatives that support community-based and public health approaches to improve nutrition security and health outcomes for Californians. The HPS I works in partnership with cross-sectional teams to develop, implement, and evaluate projects, events and trainings designed to provide support and technical assistance to state and local partners of the CalFresh Healthy Living (CFHL)/SNAP-Ed program. Coordinates communication, information, and messaging to state and local partners via online platforms, which may include but is not limited to websites, extranets, newsletters, and other mechanisms as needed.

Experience in: Public health, health promotion, health education, providing technical assistance in training and health education topics based on stakeholder needs, development and maintaining innovative stakeholder relationships and partnerships, working with SharePoint or other similar platforms for communication and content maintenance, writing, editing, and maintaining public-facing communications such as e-newsletters, coordination of branch-level strategic initiatives, strategic planning, public health evaluation projects, development, analysis, and maintenance of procurements, including contracts, policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) level changes initiatives relating to healthy eating and active living
Knowledge of: public health principles, health education, nutrition, physical activity, and/or diet-related chronic disease prevention, public health program planning and evaluation, equity principles, contract mechanisms, strategic planning, training and technical assistance, SharePoint or similar content-sharing platforms
