Medical Laboratory Assistant
The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform. Collects various fluid specimens from patients for laboratory analysis including blood, saliva, urine, and fecal samples. Advises patients of procedures to be administered and answers routine questions; enters patient information on required forms and into electronic health record. Transports laboratory samples to and from clinic settings; prepares samples for delivery or shipment to other laboratories. Performs limited and routine laboratory tests and procedures under the direction of a Medical Laboratory Technician or other medical practitioner. Documents any incident of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
