Job Description and Duties
Incumbents in one of these classifications, where a Master’s Degree is required to meet the minimum qualifications, shall receive an educational pay differential equivalent to 2% of their monthly base pay. Those where a Doctoral Degree is a required to meet the minimum qualifications, shall receive an educational pay differential equivalent to 3% of their monthly base pay. Individuals with both a Master’s and Doctoral Degree will be given the best benefit in relation to salary shall only be eligible for only one amount.This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by directly overseeing, planning, coordinating, and maintaining the high visibility Data and Informatics (D&I) Branch.
The Research Scientist Manager (RSM) serves as the Informatic Branch (IB) Chief within the Division of Communicable Disease Control (DCDC). The RSM is responsible for supporting clinical and public health informatics needs within the Center for Infectious Diseases (CID). Collaborates with end users to optimize data provisioning and data access. Engages with developers and system administrators to ensure that data systems are interoperate with departmental data warehouse and analytic resources. Leads and supports the development of informatics and data exchange processes for clinical and public health infectious disease related activities. Maintains data security and confidentiality process and expertise for clinical and public health data. Supports administrative functions for informatics projects and supervises multidisciplinary informatics staff.
