Primary Purpose of Position: The primary purpose of this position is to perform blood collection, routine waived laboratory testing and sample processing, along with assisting medical laboratory staff in performing more complicated laboratory tests. This position performs selected and standardized tests that are approved by the laboratory's technical consultant. Duties are performed in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and OSHA regulations. Work may include other related duties as determined by management and is supervised by higher level medical laboratory personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Some knowledge of applicable laboratory instrumentation and equipment; some knowledge of test procedures performed in the laboratory; knowledge of specimen processing; skill in the use of laboratory equipment and in the performance of procedures; ability to make accurate observations; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Minimum Education and Experience: High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid North Carolina Driver's License; proof of Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella immunity. Immunized against Hepatitis B prior to employment or begin upon employment prior to clinical work.
