This is a full-time project Epidemiologist 2 position anticipated to last through June 30, 2024. Make a difference. As the Epidemiologist 2 Non-medical you will provide immunization surveillance capacity for routine immunizations and the COVID vaccine response. In addition, you will:
Compile, analyze, interpret, and report findings from immunization systems;
Consult, educate and provide technical assistance to stakeholders on immunization coverage data;
Plan, coordinate, and conduct advanced epidemiologic and evaluation studies as they relate to immunizations to develop guidance and inform policy development.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Proposing and initiating epidemiologic investigations pertaining to immunizations and vaccine preventable diseases including monitoring vaccination coverage among different populations and geographic clusters in Washington.
Proposing and defining plans, objectives and methods for projects that include the collection, use, dissemination, and evaluation of immunization data and reporting systems for these data.
Summarizing data and presenting conclusions of epidemiologic investigations to Agency staff, CDC and other federal funders, and external partners in various formats and for audiences of various levels of knowledge.
Assessing COVID and vaccine preventative disease immunization data reports to determine gaps of coverage related to health disparities, regional healthcare limitations, and high-risk populations focus as part of program planning to address health equity.
The incumbent may be located anywhere within the State of Washington or border cities for this remote position.

The Office of Immunization (OI) is responsible for statewide coordination of vaccine allocation, management, tracking, surveillance, and reporting, including for COVID-19, along with the informatics and surveillance capabilities to support this work.
This Epidemiologist 2 position supports this work by developing and maintaining collaborative and productive working relationships with Agency partners across data systems and offices, as well as external data sharing organizational partners.This position is responsible for engaging stakeholder groups to help identify possible strategies to address vaccination uptake across Washington, focusing on identification and resolution of immunization gaps related to health disparities and specific populations and with specific vaccines.
Option 1: A Master's degree or higher in epidemiology; OR Option 2: A Master's degree or higher in public health or a closely allied field including 12 graduate quarter hours or equivalent (500 level or above) in epidemiology and 12 graduate quarter hours or equivalent in biostatistics. AND One (1) or more years of experience working in a public health agency or a similar setting.
