This position supports CDPH’s mission and strategic plan by performing challenging and complex duties involved in the planning, development, organization, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of programmatic aspects of the Youth Suicide Prevention and Crisis Response Pilot Program, which will provide grants to pilot school and community-based crisis response and supports following a youth suicide or youth suicide attempt.
The incumbent works under the direction of the Health Program Manager II (HPM II), Chief, Violent Injury Policy and Program Section of the Injury and Violence Prevention Branch. The Health Program Specialist II (HPS II) is the lead program expert to the Youth Suicide Prevention and Crisis Response Pilot Program and will lead all programmatic elements. This position provides leadership, vision, and highly skilled, specialized, and complex technical assistance and consultation to the Department and statewide and regional stakeholders to apply public health principles and approaches that address youth suicide prevention and crisis response.
This position will oversee the planning and implementation of the grantee program, monitor the performance of the selected contractors and grantees and ensure accurate communication of project goals and activities, resources, and materials. The HPS II will also maintain successful relationships with key department, statewide and nationwide stakeholders; and among local constituencies that implement youth suicide prevention and crisis response activities. The position will require minimal (5%) in-state and out-of-state travel which may require overnights stays.
The work location is in Sacramento, CA. Teleworking may be available for this position, in accordance with CDPH’s Telework Policy and Procedures.
