CSTE offers a hybrid workplace model with the National Office location in Atlanta, GA with a majority of staff located in that area. Most Atlanta-based staff work partly in the National Office and telework partly from an alternative worksite, such as their home. CSTE also supports a distributed remote workforce across the country. Position Description: Under the general supervision of a Program Analyst, the intern will be responsible for supporting a variety of CSTE’s Workforce development and training and education activities which support applied epidemiologists in the field.
Areas of work will include implementing and facilitating online communities of practice, developing newsletters, supporting online training series, dissemination of updated competencies, assisting with curriculum development and implementation, program planning and evaluation, scientific writing, developing capacity assessments, and other training and workforce development activities. Other topics may relate to infectious diseases, surveillance and informatics, and/or non-infectious diseases.
Day to day work may include scheduling and participating in conference calls, taking notes, attending meetings or webinars, communicating with CSTE members and staff, literature reviews, data analysis, report writing, administrative tasks, meeting planning, and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the Early Career Professionals Subcommittee (e.g., creating monthly newsletters for the CSTE Mentorship program, monitoring community page)
- Support the dissemination of the updated Applied Epidemiology Competencies (e.g., developing promotional materials, job descriptions and career ladders)
- Promote and facilitate educational and networking opportunities
- Support the CSTE LEAD program (e.g., creating newsletters, curriculum updates, facilitating community discussion, program evaluation)
- Use scientific writing skills to describe and summarize workforce projects
- Support the design, fielding and analysis of epidemiology workforce data
- Conduct program evaluation
- Support CSTE webinars and training activities (virtual and in-person)
- Support CSTE workforce development programs, including assisting with recruiting and application processes
- Participate in and scheduling conference calls, taking notes, attending meetings
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Employment Requirements:
- Current graduate student in public health or a related field
- Knowledgeable with Excel and Outlook
- Works well with others
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills (may be assessed through writing samples and/or reference checks)
- Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must be able to work in Atlanta, GA.
CSTE’s pay structure is established by grade with each position placed in a grade based on the level of difficulty, duties and responsibilities, knowledge and skill requirements, education and training, and qualifications.
