Under the supervision of the senior Women’s Health epidemiologist, the Women’s Health Epidemiologist 1 will be responsible for the data management and analysis of data related to the programs/initiatives led by the Office of Women’s Health including the Georgia Perinatal Quality Collaborative (GaPQC), Family Planning Program, the Maternal Mortality Review Committee, and Perinatal Programs. The Epidemiologist 1 will perform epidemiologic analyses to help guide programmatic efforts to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality, including data linkages and subsequent analyses, ongoing analysis of maternal morbidity and mortality using data from multiple sources (e.g., vital records, hospital discharges, emergency department). This position will be responsible for performing ongoing quality assurance reviews and continuous quality improvement. In collaboration with the Women’s Health team and key partners, the position will discuss data trends within the context of the program and assist with ongoing dissemination and presentation of data to internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:
Obtain relevant data for epidemiologic analysis.
Perform analysis of maternal morbidity and mortality surveillance data and provide updates to the program on an ongoing basis.
Review surveillance data for quality assurance and addresses identified issues.
Assist in report preparation and prepare other data reports (e.g., fact sheets, newsletters, manuscripts, etc.), including the design of graphs, tables, and charts.
Conduct analyses of data following dataset-specific protocol using SAS.
Summarize analysis results, draw conclusions, and identify potential recommendations.
Present results of analyses to internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain security, retention, and confidentiality of data.
Participate in DPH Epidemiology emergency response activities and On Call rotation as needed.
