Under limited supervision of the Opioid & Substance Misuse Program Director, provide leadership through oversight of programs and personnel within the Opioid & Substance Misuse Response Program to reduce opioid and substance misuse and drug overdose in Georgia.
Manage and direct assigned Opioid & Substance Misuse Response Program staff - Lead program response efforts by coordinating and establishing operations and communication procedures and guidelines with all stakeholders (internal and external).
Develop and implement training, exercises, programmatic briefings, and meetings (in person and online) for DPH internal and external partners to ensure programmatic awareness locally, statewide, and regionally.
Develop partnerships and collaborate with other DPH programs, state agencies, and organizations to inform and strengthen programmatic work.
Act as response liaison to local public health partners to include providing technical assistance for the local Public Health Districts and other key partners of an opioid response.
Guide and inform the Program and State in the use of evidence-based and promising practices to address opioid, substance misuse, and overdose prevention and response.
Coordinate preparations and submission of all grant-related reports, including new grant applications.
Represent the Opioid Director during meetings, conference calls, and email exchanges when the Director is not available, including authorizing grant-related activity, upon conferring with the Business Operations Director.
Assist in program and strategy evaluation and recommend process changes to ensure intended outcomes are met.
Oversee the development, management, and evaluation of external contracts
Coordinate opioid response planning activities for DPH relating to any opioid. response in conjunction with the DPH Emergency Operations Plan and all affiliated annexes/appendices. Ensure consistent engagement with internal and external partners to support plan development and maintenance.
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years experience managing professional level staff OR Seven years of related professional experience AND Three years managing at the level equivalent to area of assignment OR Three years of experience at the lower level (GSM010) or position equivalent.
Note: A combination of education and experience at agency discretion.
Master of Public Health degree or other applicable fields of study
At least two years of program management experience in areas such as substance misuse prevention, overdose prevention and response, epidemiology, and/or public health emergency preparedness
At least two years of relatable experience leading projects, implementing grant activities, strategic planning, and working with a wide range of partners/stakeholders to collaborate and work towards achieving a common goal
Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of evidence-based strategies in the area of substance misuse prevention, overdose prevention and response, treatment, and/or recovery
Experience in training, strategic planning, and project management
A strong orientation toward teamwork and collaboration
Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills with a wide range of audiences
