In support of our mission to improve the quality of life for South Carolinians by promoting the health of the public. SCDHEC of Spartanburg County is hiring a registered nurse (BSN) Supervisor. As a member of the immunization and family planning team, you’ll help provide counseling, contraceptives and vaccines.

Supervision and Management:
Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, acts as a role model for DHEC’s Core Values. Maintains excellent communication and professionalism with superiors, peers, and subordinates. Responsible for supervision of staff members and daily clinic management of Spartanburg County.
Takes an active role in the hiring process and assuring thorough orientation of new staff. Monitors clinic flow and staff utilization. Works consistently with staff and peers to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Holds regular staff meetings with team and individual staff members.
Performs quality assurance activities, program audits, and implementation of corrective action plans, as required by Preventive Health, Immunization and/or Laboratory program and agency policy. Assesses employee performance through direct and indirect observations and completes evaluation tools, per agency policy.
Assures accurate and timely completion of staff PCAS, SCEIS, and travel reports. Maintain and monitor customer satisfaction as well as problem solving customer concerns. Conducts outreach activities.
Direct Client Care:
Provides direct client services across multiple programs including Preventive Health and Immunizations for Spartanburg County.
Utilizes the nursing process to provide culturally competent direct care services to individuals in public health settings as assigned, which includes, Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation.
Adheres to standing order and agency policy/procedure. Maintains appropriate agency and patient records. Makes appropriate community referrals.
Provides appropriate counseling and patient education based on identified patient needs (i.e. counsel the patient and offer emergency contraception (EC).
Completes follow up per guidelines. Attend all required trainings and maintains competency per program policy. Serves as the onsite employee health nurse. Promotes quality customer service and maintains strict confidentiality.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Some positions require a valid driver's license. Also, some positions require certification in Basic Life Support and/or Basic/Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Agency Additional Requirements: A valid driver's license. Able to travel up to four (4) hours in duration and travel distances up to 400 miles round trip. Overnight travel may be required.
IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS: All new employees who are healthcare providers with job-specific exposure risk are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella, and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
Our Public Health Workforce Protection Policy requires healthcare staff with job-specific exposure risk to be fully vaccinated or alternatively, tested for COVID-19 on a weekly basis.
