THIS IS A STATEWIDE RECRUITMENT. This vacancy is being advertised in Contra Costa County and Sacramento County. The position’s headquarters will be in the county nearest to the selected candidate’s residence.
The Health Program Specialist (HPS) I functions as a highly skilled, technical program consultant responsible for coordinating efforts and providing recommendations in the administration of the Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention and Control for Health Departments (STD PCHD) Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) Workforce Development Supplemental grant. The HPS I will be required to perform in a lead role, collaborating with multidisciplinary team members within the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Control Branch (STDCB) in interpreting federal and state funding guidelines, grant deliverables, and determining programmatic requirements for local health jurisdiction subgrantees’ public health and disease intervention and response activities. Up to 10% travel is required to attend Federal and State training programs, in-services, and the continuing education courses necessary to maintain program knowledge and skills, workshops, conferences, and local site visits.
