This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by advancing the health and well-being of California’s diverse people and communities. As a member of the eWIC Branch, the Health Program Specialist (HPS) I serves as part of a team that provides support to users of WIC WISE, the WIC EBT Card, or the WIC App.
The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Chief, eWIC Branch, Staff Services Manager III (SSM III). The HPS I serves in an advisory capacity and leads staff to plan, develop, and coordinate work to improve Branch operations, streamline procedures, and reduce/contain costs while improving the quality of services provided to WIC families. Gathers information and data, evaluates alternative strategies, and provides management with progress reports and recommendations for improvements. Performs and supports User Acceptance Testing. Applies quality improvement tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall quality. Interacts with and provides technical expertise to program managers within the WIC Division on the WIC Web Information System Exchange (WIC WISE services).
