The Public Health Medical Administrator I (PHMA I) manage and direct the activities of approximately 100 multi-disciplinary scientists, working directly with approximately 10-20 Team Leads on national and state policies related towards an effective public health response to COVID-19. The supervision of the multidisciplinary staff involves leading a group of epidemiologists, laboratory scientists, data analysts, outbreak responders, infection control experts and occupational health experts to manage daily surveillance, outbreak response, and guidance development for CDPH including urgent data analyses/requests and media questions. Provide consultation and guidance to local health departments on the development of COVID-19 preparedness and response plans.
The incumbent works under the administrative direction of the Public Health Medical Administrator II (PHMA II) of DISCO.
This vacancy is being advertised in Contra Costa County and Sacramento County. The location of the position will be determined based on the location of the most qualified candidate.
This is a 12 month Limited-Term Full-Time position that may be extended or become Permanent.
License/Certification: Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners. (Applicants who are in the process of securing approval of their qualifications by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the Board of Osteopathic Examiners will be admitted to the examination, but the Board to which application is made must determine that all legal requirements have been met before candidate will be eligible for appointment.) and Possession of a valid certificate issued by an American Medical Specialty Board or an American Osteopathic Specialty Board as a specialist in one of the fields of medicine, or eligibility for examination for one of these certificates as evidenced by a written statement from the Secretary of the Board.
