Summary: The Analyst, Maternal and Child Health provides direct support to projects related to addressing maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. This position provides technical assistance to multi-sector jurisdictional teams on evidence-based and -informed practices. The analyst supports the Risk-Appropriate Care Learning Community and other learning communities on issues relating to maternal and child health and cross-cutting projects (e.g. maternal mental health, adverse childhood experiences, substance use, etc.).

Risk-Appropriate Care (RAC) Learning Community (funded through CDC???s Division of Reproductive Health):
Risk-appropriate care is a strategy developed to improve health outcomes for pregnant women and infants ??? states can help ensure that pregnant women and infants at high risk of complications receive care at a birth facility that is best prepared to meet their health needs. The purpose of the RAC learning community is to improve statewide risk-appropriate care through implementation of CDC???s Levels of Care Assessment (LoCATE) tool. ASTHO launched a learning community with four states who are currently implementing the tool to provide capacity building and technical assistance opportunities to support data collection, quality improvement efforts, and translating data into policy.
Principal Functions:

Support the Director, Family and Child Health in ensuring a coordinated presence and follow up on federally funded projects.

Assist in the design and development of ASTHO products such as reports, issue briefs, blogs, podcasts, PowerPoint presentations, and webinars.

Assist in the design and development of virtual and in-person convenings.

Conduct, analyze, and summarize web-based research and original data collection with states and territories.

Collaborate across ASTHO on cross-cutting issues related to maternal and child health.

Responds to requests for assistance and information from members, affiliates, and national organizations.

Participate in the evaluation of project activities and outcomes and other quality improvement initiatives sponsored by the organization.

Provide staff support to ASTHO committees and task forces (i.e. Community Health and Prevention Policy Committee and Healthy Babies Subcommittee) and external committees.

Establish and manage strategic relationships with national partners.

Represent ASTHO on national advisory committees and at meetings and conferences as requested.

Identify opportunities for collaboration both internally across ASTHO teams, and externally by representing ASTHO at national/federal meetings, workgroups, and committees.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

MPH or related degree
-
1 to 3 years prior related experience or any combination of experience that would provide an equivalent background.

Knowledge of state or state and local public health, maternal and child health, women???s health, and reproductive health desirable.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with a variety of colleagues, funders and state and federal officials.

Ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically with public and internal contacts.

Knowledge of public health systems change at local, state, or federal levels desirable.

Ability to develop project outcome measures, track progress and evaluate outcomes.

Ability to effectively translate and disseminate information to various groups and audiences.

Ability to work with large networks and to represent ASTHO at meetings and conferences on public health-related issues.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment, manage multiple projects and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
