Summary: ASTHO is looking for an intern to support meeting and event planning with various programs and projects including but not limited to Washington Week, ASTHO Week, TechXpo, Making Dialysis Safer Coalition annual meeting, Overdose2Action Recipient Meeting, and Health Equity Summit. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with internal staff, ASTHO members, external partners and agencies and be involved with the preparation and execution processes.

Job Description:
Meeting and Event Preparation (60%): The candidate will support Meetings and Events team with:
- Maintaining relevant planning details and placing event orders (catering, materials and supplies)
- Assist with drafting and disseminating planning meeting notes when needed
- Assist with speaker preparation materials, calls and meetings
- Provide technical support on various preparation meetings and calls
- Connect and provide relevant event information with speakers, partners, participants, and colleagues during entire preparation process via email communication and meetings
Meeting and Event Execution (40%): The candidate will support the Meetings and Events team in producing and executing numerous large-scale hybrid or virtual events
- Specific duties include:
- Support registration management
- Assist with speaker preparation
- Provide assistance with participant participation and technical support
- Provide onsite event management support for hybrid events if/when they can be done safely
- Managing Zoom or platform chat and Q&A throughout event days
Required Skills
- Excellent writing, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, in a team environment, and across different teams.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to work in a virtual setting.
Preferred Skills:
- A willingness to learn and serve vulnerable and diverse communities is a must.
- Preferred candidates should have a background or interest in public health.
- Experience in event planning is preferred but not required.
- Keen writing skills and attention to detail are paramount to success.
Intern Rate: Interns typically work 20 hours per week for approximately 3 months. The salary for graduate students is $20 per hour; undergraduate is $17 per hour.
