Regional Coordinator (WMS Band 1) – 4 Positions
(Central Corridor, Eastern Plains, South Gorge, and Northwest Waterway) Washington
Homebased with extensive and frequent travel in the Assigned
Washington State Region
The Department of Health (DOH) is creating a regional office structure within the agency that will provide additional infrastructure to better support our local partners, implement our agency priorities, and support health across Washington State. This is a start-up adventure and will take a commitment by these regional coordinators to partner with Local Health Jurisdictions and Tribal Governments for it to be successful. These positions will be part of a 2-position team that will work closely with staff at DOH and our partners to support the system. We will use the process of seeing others needs, adjusting our efforts and measuring our impact to continually adjust and improve.
Each regional office will have a Regional Medical Officer and a Regional Coordinator that will work as a team. At the same time the group of Regional Medical Officer and Regional Coordinators will work cross-regionally to bring expertise and assistance when and where its needed. We envision a robust and flexible team of experts and leaders that will bring innovation and engagement to this work. The key responsibilities for the Regional Coordinator include:
- Provide input to agency activities and decisions, bringing regional perspective and expertise to the conversation. Strengthen the knowledge and awareness of regional needs and culture.
- Share context and issues that impact the region as needed for policy development, strategic partnerships and agency operational work.
- Identify operational activities that connect to regional needs. Work with agency staff to make connections, share resources and identify opportunities.
- Facilitate communication and connections within DOH that will support regional activities.
- Partner with the assigned regional health officer to lead initiatives, facilitate meetings and plan work in support of regional work.
- Maintain and nurture relationships, facilitate cross-collaboration within the region, amongst regions and within the agency.
- Explore new opportunities, develop innovative strategies and build sustainable collaborations with regional partners. Support funding, policy and strategic activity conversations that will support our agency priorities. Help create a plan to incubate ideas with our partners and help move them forward.
- Visit with LHJ’s and Tribes, and attend events as appropriate, to cultivate a strong understanding and connection to the area and community. This work will be done in collaboration with our partners rather then without them.
