Duties

• Serves as an advisor to the Deputy Commissioner for modernizing foodborne illness outbreak response, including working with local and state stakeholders, agriculture and federal agencies, and international regulatory partners.
• Provides scientific and technical expertise to the Program in response to evolving policy, foodborne illness outbreaks, regulatory follow-up investigations, education/outreach programs, and risk-based research needs to improve the safety of foods.
• Leads the evaluation and adoption of new and emerging technologies to strengthen the agency?s ability to track and trace foods throughout the food system.
• Designs innovative approaches to food outbreak and response efforts, initiatives and related surveillance systems, research studies and training methods.
