The Department of Public Health Sciences is a large, complex teaching and research department in the UC Davis School of Medicine. Our mission is to improve the health of people through population-based approaches by carrying out educational programs, epidemiologic research, public service and policy development. The Division of Biostatistics within the Department of Public Health Sciences supports basic and clinical research and investigators throughout the School of Medicine.

Responsibilities
Incumbent will primarily participate in research projects supported by the Biostatistics Core of the Conte Center and related neurodevelopment research.

The UC Davis Conte Center is a large, interdisciplinary, complex research enterprise and its researchers together represent a diverse coalition of experts from multiple departments and centers across UC Davis, including the Center for Neuroscience, MIND Institute, Center for Mind and Brain, California National Primate Research Center, College of Biological Sciences, School of Medicine, College of Letters and Science, and College of Engineering. This position will provide biostatistics support for basic and clinical research and investigators associated with the UC Davis Conte Center. Incumbent will act as biostatistician on a variety of projects addressing the scientific aims of the Conte Center. Incumbent will work under the supervision of Dr. Ana-Maria Iosif and support the faculty statisticians from the Biostatistics Core for the Conte Center in projects to include using state of the art mathematical approaches to data analysis, developing related software, participating in discussions with researchers, participating in publication of papers in scientific journals, making presentations, keeping current with related literature, helping to guide and educate trainees (students, postdoctoral scholars, residents, and fellows), and helping to write proposals for future funding.

Required Qualifications

• Master's in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or closely related field or a Bachelor's degree and extensive experience in biostatistics.
• Experience working collaboratively in a research environment either in a university or industry setting.
• At least one (1) year of experience with the SAS Statistical Analysis Software and demonstrated knowledge of SAS required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of running mixed-effects regression analyses and how to interpret them.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in reporting statistical analyses required.
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with biomedical research.
• Ability to work on a team.
• Willingness to learn new material.
• Good skills and experience in communication with persons from a variety of backgrounds, such as scientists from various disciplines.

Special Requirements

• This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
