Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Temporary Research Assistant for The Center for Health, Identity, Behavior and Prevention Studies (CHIBPS) within the School of Public Health. Under the direction of the Director, the Temporary Research Assistant will provide administrative and technical support on multiple research studies involving research subjects, students, interns, volunteers, and faculty. This position supports the SPH plan for urban public health research with sexual minorities and marginalized, underserved populations in Newark, NJ.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assists the Director with the development of new and existing programs and research studies.
Works with junior and senior investigators to prepare manuscripts, grant proposals, and research reports.
Supports the writing and coordination of time-sensitive applications relevant to the Center.
Develops appropriate statistical models to analyze research data, while managing and maintaining datasets.
Assists with the coordination of submission of data to state, federal, media, independent agencies, and other external stakeholders.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated skills in academic research, research coordination and time management. Must possess strong communication and written skills. Must demonstrate ability to work with diverse individuals and a wide variety of professionals.
Must be able to coordinate and manage multiple research projects, activities and staff members.
Strong data management and analytical skills.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in research concerning the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ) community and other marginalized populations.
Must show commitment to inclusion, health equity and social justice.
Must have knowledge of Microsoft office suite applications.
Must have knowledge of analytical programs including SPSS, SAS,
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift or exert force up to 25 pounds.
Must be willing to travel to research sites in New York and New Jersey.
