The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Project Manager (Program Operations Specialist).

The Project Manager will support the work of the ADA Knowledge Translation Center (ADA-KT Center). The ADA-KT Center is one of 11 centers funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), collectively known as the ADA National Network (ADANN). The other 10 centers are distributed across different regions in the United States. The ADA-KT Center supports the regional centers at the national level to help people with disabilities, professionals, employers, businesses, and others understand their rights and responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management & Team Oversight:
•Using the project management system, manage the Center’s workplan in close collaboration with the PI and other members of the leadership team.
•Coordinate regular project team meetings with agendas and meeting minutes.
•Monitor project progress against proposed workplan addressing technical, quality and teamwork challenges, as needed, to achieve project goals.
•Maintain ongoing task lists and direct team members in accomplishment of their duties.
•With a high level of independence, make decisions about how to juggle competing priorities, re-negotiate timelines and clarify expectations.
•In the 5th year of the project, support the planning and implementation of a national State of the Science conference to be held in Washington, DC.
•Coordinate and attend ADANN meetings and committees; take and distribute minutes and follow up on action items.
•Identify and implement a web-based project management system.
•Maintain the team’s shared folders, calendar, and other information management tools.
•Work effectively across a project team that is based in Seattle, WA, Chicago, IL, and New York, NY and has many staff who work remotely.
•As needed, represent the PI in meetings with regional centers and partner organizations.
•Coordinate institutional review board (IRB) submissions and track due dates for renewals.
•Support planning for biannual ADANN meetings in Washington, DC including making meeting arrangements with hotels and coordinating media requirements (e.g., sound systems, projectors).

Communication and Reporting:
•Regularly communicate project updates to leadership team members, ADANN regional directors, and NIDILRR project officers through monthly, quarterly, and annual meeting minutes, newsletters, written reports, and concept notes.
•Lead quarterly report writing as well as technical responses to the funder with input from the PI.
•Lead the development of the annual performance report to NIDILRR, including organizing the elements, assigning staff to write sections, and compiling the report in the online reporting system.
•Generate an annual report using data from the ADANN activities reporting system.
•Assist the project team in knowledge management and dissemination activities.
•Orally present updates in team meetings and national director-level teleconferences.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Communication, Information Management, Business Administration, or related field.
•2-3 years of project management experience, certification, or coursework in project management.

•Demonstrated ability to proactively solve problems and take a solutions-oriented approach to challenges; comfortable with ambiguity; and able to work with limited direction/supervision.

•Experience with complex, multi-faceted projects.
•Strong organizational skills required to manage multiple priorities.
•Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively build relationships, promote a collaborative and team environment, and influence others.
•Demonstrated good leadership and communication skills for effectively working with diverse stakeholders.
•Consumer-level understanding about research.
•Willingness to independently learn procedures and policies.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and adeptness at learning new software.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
•Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Communication, Information Management, Business Administration, or related field.
•Experience in a major research university setting.
•Knowledgeable about research ethics and institutional review board requirements in US-based academic settings.
•Experience conducting basic quantitative and qualitative analysis.
•Ability to travel up to 5% to project meetings in Washington, DC. (pending COVID-19 restrictions).
