About IU - Dept of Applied Health Science
The Department of Applied Health Science currently has 130 faculty members and staff combined, with 54 voting members of the faculty and 37 Adjunct faculty members. It offers a Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science degree, with five areas of focus: Dietetics (ACEND accredited), Human Development and Family Studies, Nutrition Science, Safety, and Youth Development. The Department of Applied Health Science also offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree in Community Health, Master of Public Health and Master of Science degrees, and a doctoral degree in Health Behavior. A new PhD degree program in Nutrition is currently being conceptualized. The Department of Applied Health Science unites a multidisciplinary faculty with expertise in nutrition and dietetics, social and behavioral science, opioids, addictions, and substance use prevention, sexual and reproductive health, human development and family studies, safety, and maternal and child health, all pursuing the common goal of preventing disease and promoting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. The Department of Applied Health Science received more than $12.8 million in external awards in FY2020.
