The Office of Information Technology is seeking a Multimedia Production System Specialist with skillsets in audio/video content production, audio/video web conferencing technical support, and media content creation.
The Multimedia Production System Specialist reports to the Multimedia Supervisor and works collaboratively in a team of creative media content professionals to support and produce the online learning content, virtual and in-person events, and public-facing communication initiatives for the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Daily operations are centered around maintaining the continued operation of audio and video production facilities throughout the School (hardware and software).
The Multimedia Production System Specialist utilizes multimedia expertise to design, implement and maintain multimedia technology and systems is responsible for a significant multimedia function for a center/area, and researches current technologies. The successful candidate will be a motivated, organized, detail-oriented, positive, and proactive team player who provides an excellent customer service experience for clients.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Designs and maintains multimedia systems.
- Designs and performs in-room A/V upgrades.
- Ensures that all video conferencing, control room, portal production, and classroom equipment is in working order. Provides preventative maintenance.
- Maintains service plans for systems and service agreements with vendors.
- Provides operation and maintenance guidance to other staff.
- May design, develop, and maintain instructional materials as needed, e.g., websites, online courses, etc.
- Researches, analyzes, and recommends solutions among fiber optic, cat 5, and RGBHV, SDI, or other A/V digital delivery options. Provides budget and cost estimates.
- Performs duties of a Multimedia Technician, as needed.
- Provides audio/visual and collaborative technologies support to clients, responding to telephone calls, emails, and personnel requests for technical support.
- Diagnoses problems through discussions with clients.
- Performs troubleshooting of podium A/V devices, room control systems, microphones, projectors, audio recording units, and other related equipment in classroom and special event environments.
- Performs A/V equipment set-ups and strikes in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that equipment is correctly configured and operating properly for the event.
- Supports live and pre-recorded productions for special event webcasts in a variety of locations throughout the School.
- Performs testing and quality assurance on presentation computer systems, A/V systems and virtual conferencing software.
- Actively keeps abreast of A/V technologies and practices in use outside of the School.
- Interacts regularly with SPH clients (executives, faculty, staff, and students) and other staff within IT.
- Interacts regularly with vendors.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Three years in-depth experience in multimedia, distribution systems, distance learning, web casting and streaming media.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Displays demonstrated knowledge of general A/V installation techniques.
- Possesses computer troubleshooting skills and working knowledge of computer networks.
- Perform system integration and evaluations.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to bend, push, lift and assemble equipment of approximately 50 lbs.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
