The University of Washington - Public Health-Seattle and King County (PHSKC) HIV/STI Research Group seeks a research coordinator to work on two new projects.
The first project is funded through a 5-year NIH grant to investigate the potential role of a nucleic acid amplification test in syphilis screening. This project will enroll patients in the PHSKC Sexual Health Clinic at Harborview Medical Center in a series of studies designed to determine if this new test can identify people with syphilis earlier in the course of infection than currently available blood tests. The second study will investigate whether the option for persons receiving HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to self-collect specimens for ongoing monitoring at home increases retention on PrEP.
We are seeking a Research Coordinator to help oversee these projects, manage selected aspects of study data, help recruit participants and ensure their successful completion of the study, and monitor the projects’ progress. The person in this position will work with other members of the project teams to refine study procedures and complete human subjects records. They will also assist in evaluating the programs and developing manuscripts related to the projects for publication.

The Research Coordinator will be an integral part of the UW-PHSKC team and will work closely with UW investigators and PHSKC epidemiologists, disease intervention specialists, and clinicians.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Under general supervision of the project co-directors the coordinator will:
Clinical Research: Study planning and implementation
Lead develop and refine project and research protocols
Complete remote study visits with participants
Monitor several ongoing projects and produce monthly reports presenting project progress
Lead in completing IRB applications and lead ongoing communications with the IRB
Draft annual progress reports to study funders
Coordinate data collection
Develop research analytic plans
Perform Other Duties as Required
Project communications and liaison
Collaborate with partner organizations to manage sample delivery, collection, and receipt
Communicate with industry collaborator
Coordinate with teams and individuals conducting related work in the Sexual Health Clinic
Presentation of results
Cleaning and compilation of study data
Participate in writing study manuscripts

REQUIREMENTS
Master's in Public Health and at least 1 year of experience to include:
Strong organizational skills
Ability to conduct simple analyzes using STATA, SAS, R or a similar statistical package
Ability to multitask with competing priorities
Comfort with rapid change in the work environment
Ability to establish rapport with diverse groups of people
Experience can substitute for degree requirement
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Previous research or clinical experience related to sexually transmitted infections, HIV or sexual health
