The Nayar Laboratory, launched January 2021, is seeking a part-time Research Technologist to perform cutting-edge research into the mechanisms of drug resistance in breast cancer. Start date is negotiable.
The Laboratory is located within the Bloomberg School of Public Health and is dedicated to the study of therapeutic resistance in breast cancer. Equally important to our mission is the training of the next generation of cancer researchers. Our goal is to lessen the public health burden of breast cancer through science.
The Research Technologist can work on one or more of several projects available in the lab focusing on transcriptional control of resistance, therapeutic vulnerabilities of resistant cancer, and large-scale oncogene variant-to-function efforts. Please see nayarlab.org for more details.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Performing laboratory experiments as part of a collaborative scientific team
Documenting, compiling, and analyzing experimental data accurately
Participating in regular lab and small group meetings
Reporting findings in oral and written formats, including manuscripts
Maintaining and organizing the lab, including keeping track of supplies and reagents, and ordering and stocking the lab
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field
Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred
Prior research experience in a laboratory setting is preferred

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
