General Summary/Purpose:

Dr. Susan Sherman and the SPARC Women's Center is seeking a full-time Research Program Coordinator to primarily assist in the day-to-day logistical, administrative, and operational tasks for various research studies on which Dr. Sherman is the Principal Investigator. Dr. Sherman's research focuses on the structural determinants of HIV, drug overdose, and COVID-19 among female sex workers and all people who use drugs. The incumbent will provide overall support to Dr. Sherman and her team's multiple research activities, studies, and programs. Specifically, the position will assist with conducting literature reviews and grant and protocol development. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for administrative duties in support of Dr. Sherman and her studies including calendar coordination, contracts, accounting, meeting scheduling, website updates, and supply ordering. The Research Program Coordinator will be broadly exposed to all aspects of public health research including project inception, project data collection and implementation, project summarization and presentation (research findings), and direct service activities – through the SPARC Women's Center. There may be opportunities for more intense engagement on a specific research project depending on mutual interest and completion of other activities. Below is a detailed list of the duties and responsibilities for this position

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with conducting literature reviews and maintenance of reference libraries
• Aid with development, formatting and submission of grant proposals, research protocols and research manuscripts.
• Assist with development and formatting of study protocols and survey instruments.
• Manage Dr. Sherman's electronic calendar for multiple meetings and manage frequent requests. Resolve scheduling conflicts.
• Work with financial and compliance offices to set-up research subcontracts and consultancies, pay invoices, and assist with financial reporting.
• Provide overall administrative support to the team including maintenance of documents, processing reimbursements, and ordering supplies for projects and programs.
• Assist with study data collection, preparation of graphs and tables for oral and written presentations.
• Coordinate study meetings and communication with stakeholders.
• Coordinate meetings and communication with students and advisees.
• Manage project/group websites.
• Consent and interview individuals for study participation
• Complete special projects as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in related discipline. 
• Some related experience.  
• Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula:  30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.  For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

• Prior programmatic and/or research experience.

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
