The Biostatistics Shared Resource (BSR) is one of several OHSU resources supported by the Knight Cancer Institute's National Cancer Institute Cancer Center Support Grant. The BSR strives to enhance the quality and rigor of cancer research through professional consultation and collaboration with Knight Cancer Investigators during all phases of the research life-cycle. The primary aim of the BSR is to provide comprehensive and integrated biostatistics support to basic, clinical and population science researchers conducting cancer research at OHSU.
We are seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Biostatistics who is engaged in biostatistics collaboration, research, teaching and consulting and other service activities at OHSU.
Research: They conduct collaborative and independent research in biostatistics. Specifically they serve as a member of the Biostatistics Shared Resource (BSR) in the Knight Cancer Institute and engage in collaborative cancer research. They may be involved in collaborative research in other institutes/centers/departments such as the Biostatistics & Design Program (BDP) of the Oregon Clinical & Translational Research Institute (OCTRI). They are expected to demonstate consistent scholastic productivity in terms of publications and grants.
Teaching: They are engaged in teaching activities in OHSU/PSU School of Public Health (SPH). Specifically they teach in the Masters Program in Public Health and Masters and Certificate Programs in Biostatistics including instruction of didactic courses, development of new courses and curriculum and academic advising of graduate students in biostatistics. In addition, they engage in teaching and mentorng activities through the BSR, including office hours and participation in educational and training in cancer biostatistics.
Service: As a faculty member in OHSU/PSU SPH, they are expected to be involved in appropriate service activities including serving on SPH committees as well as committees of their professional organizations (e.g, American Statistical Association, International Biometric Society).
This is a fixed term appointment. In this capacity, the Associate Professor of Biostatistics is expected to participate in general academic unit activities (e.g., SPH faculty meetings, seminars, retreats, committees). As a faculty member of the Biostatistics Shared Resource of the Knight Cancer Institute, they are expected to participate in appropriate Knight Cancer Institute sponsored events (e.g., annual retreat, BSR staff meetings).

Teaching: teach courses either for the MPH program or the MCR program and participate as member on MPH thesis committees
Research: participate and contribute to collaborative research projects
Service: (1) serve on PHPM committees such as the MPH committee and the scholarship committee (2) serve as a reviewer for journal and grants as requested
Other departmental responsibilities: (1) attend the monthly faculty meeting, division meeting and Grand Rounds; (2) attend the annual division and department retreat
PhD in biostatistics or statistics
Collaborative research experience in biomedical fields and graduate teaching experience in statistics/biostatistics
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated collaborative research experience reflected in peer-reviewed publications
