The Program Coordinator for the Division of Breast Surgery at the Dana Farber/ Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center (DF/BWCC) will manage a new clinical program for patients diagnosed with the earliest form of breast cancer, ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). The Surgeon- directed DCIS program at DF/BWCC will be the first of its kind in the New England area, specifically focused on the needs of patients with DCIS. They will assist with the implementation, follow-through and evaluation of the program and will work to improve procedures for providing patient centered services and programming, including access to research studies. They ensure timely access to resources for patients with DCIS and ensure smooth operations of program related events and groups. Oversee the DCIS program database and in conjunction with the Directors of the DCIS Program sets the strategic goals, manages the implementation of new projects, groups and events as appropriate. - Contact DCIS patients, including initial outreach by phone/email prior to the first visit and periodic follow ups (e.g. follow up email and/or 3-month call, etc.). Document all interactions in the program database. Related tasks may include:
- Provide and review program materials and services
- Make referrals, as needed, including: genetic counseling, social work/psychiatric counseling, sexual health consultation, nutrition/complementary therapy
- Assist with writing and editing materials for patients and providers and facilitate distribution of materials; including but not limited to: annual or biannual print newsletters, DCIS program brochures and booklets, DCIS program webpage and social media presence
- Manage and help plan the education opportunities and outreach to patients including patient-centered webinars, newsletters, and an annual forum
- Address calls to the central program telephone line and provide patient navigation to services/resources of the DCIS program
- Be the primary point person to oversee the DCIS Program Database which holds all information related to services provided for DCIS patients. Identify QA issues. Work with the data programmer to improve the structure and address/solve issues that occur.
- Support the clinical and translational research efforts of the DCIS Program including the collection of clinical data, questionnaire data (patient reported outcomes) or biospecimens as needed. Facilitate research projects focused on understanding the quality of life impact and cancer related outcomes of various treatment strategies for DCIS.Â
- Assist with the ongoing evaluation of services and program expansion, which may include tracking and assessing numbers served, initiating and following up on surveys as needed, etc.
- Work with institutional information technology services to maintain the DCIS Program website.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s degree in public health or administration preferred.
- 3 years of relevant experience within health education, clinical research, or clinical patient experience and data management. Prior experience with direct patient contact preferred.
- Experience with Access and other research administration software programs is preferredÂ

- Ability to communicate with patients and staff effectively, with sensitivity

- Abitlity to work within a team setting and foster collaboration
- Ability to use software programs including Microsoft Office Suite and Mass General Brigham hospital systems
