Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the Department of Medicine within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Study Coordinator, the Temporary Part-Time Student Research Assistant will assist in research on persons who have a history of illicit drug use.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Assists in review, quality control, and analysis of study data, using both Microsoft Excel and SAS® Software.
• Collects or assists in collection of data from participating drug treatment centers, involving onsite activities at those centers and coordination with staff at those centers.
• Revises and edits survey instruments in collaboration with the Principal Investigator, Study Coordinator, and other research staff.
• Assists in coordinating activities with participating drug treatment centers.
• Edits or drafts manuscripts, IRB protocols, and other documents in collaboration with the Principal Investigator, Study Coordinator, and other research staff.
• Works in conjunction with collaborators.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Currently enrolled as a Rutgers undergraduate or graduate student in biology, public health, biomedical science, premedical studies, or a related field.
• Previous experience as a research assistant on cohort studies of drug users, or the equivalent.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have excellent writing and excellent communication skills.
• Must have excellent quantitative skills.
• Must be computer literate and have working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of SAS® Software.
• Having own auto with current insurance.

Special Conditions:

• If to be involved in transporting frozen specimens, Rutgers biosafety training and certification related to transport will be required in advance.
• Flexibility of hours.
