Position Summary:

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey has 4 openings for highly motivated Research Assistants, aged 18-20, at the Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies. These positions are intended to collect data for a National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded research study to better understand the impact of increasing the minimum legal age to buy tobacco and the extent to which this will be effective.

Among the key duties of this position are th following:

• Attends mandatory training.
• Travels to designated tobacco retail establishments around NJ.
• Performs data collection on a variety of relevant measures.
• Reviews and edits data to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Work collaboratively in a team environment.
• High degree of emotional intelligence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
• Experience with primary data collection. Background or interest in public health.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Must be able to lift or exert force up to 25 pounds.

Salary: $15/hr
