QualificationsThe position of Epidemiologist falls under the 0601 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-11/12, you must meet the following: Basic Requirements Degree: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. NOTE: Applicants must submit all relevant transcripts that demonstrate you possess the required education to meet the Basic Qualifications. Minimum Qualifications Specialized Experience. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. GS-11: Have one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal Service or public which includes, assisting scientists in conducting epidemiologic studies impacting public health policies and assisting in preparing inputs on scientific reports. OR Have 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree in related field or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in related field. OR Have a combination of specialized experience as described in above and higher graduate level education as described above that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. GS-12: Have one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service or public which includes, providing advice to scientist and program staff on epidemiologic issues; reviewing, evaluating, and synthesizing epidemiologic evidence and their impact on public health policies or scientific studies; making presentations and responding to inquiries. |
