Position Summary The Department of Sociomedical Sciences (SMS) at the Mailman School of Public Health seeks a full-time Project Coordinator to provide oversight of a five-year intervention trial funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The intervention will support smoke-free policy compliance in public housing by offering smoking cessation services and resident endorsement initiatives across public housing complexes throughout New York City. We will measure biological samples, resident surveys, and qualitative data to assess smoking behaviors and secondhand smoke exposures at four-time points in this five-year project. The Project Coordinator will play a key role in assisting the Mailman research team in collaboration with New York-Presbyterian and the New York City Housing Authority through administrative oversight of this innovative trial. The Project Coordinator will also work closely with the PI to support research and initiatives on energy, equity, housing, and health more broadly. The Project Coordinator's roles and responsibilities include assisting the Principal Investigator and project team with a range of key activities including: Research Coordination: Support the project team with developing/editing research tools/protocols and intervention materials, tracking study progress and tasks, data management activities, clinical trial reporting, coordinating communication between sites, data analysis, and the management of Institutional Review Board (IRB) procedures. Will also support the drafting/editing of manuscripts, intervention materials, and sharing of study findings. Operations and Administrative Support: Support the project team with a range of ongoing tasks including scheduling and coordination of meetings, assisting with budgets, grant reports, proposal development, travel requirements, and other general administrative activities as needed. Energy, Equity, Housing, and Health Initiative: Support the PI on ongoing research activities related to energy, equity, housing, and health and help guide future E2H2 projects and initiatives, and create and maintain communications including social media profiles.
Responsibilities Coordinate CUMC-based clinical trial oversight for a study conducted in public housing sites throughout NYC, including data management, monitoring study progress, problem-solving study implementation with a diverse team, preparation of training materials, and research team communications. (30%) Provide high-level administrative support including scheduling and coordinating team meetings, supporting financial tasks, assist in NIH grant reporting, and oversight of student workers. (20%) Update research tools including the protocol, study assessments, intervention materials, consent forms, and Institutional Review Board approvals. (15%) Support all clinical trial requirements, including Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) reporting and clinicaltrials.gov. (15%) Support of ongoing projects and initiatives broadly related to energy, equity, housing, and health research and interventions including fundraising and proposal development efforts. (10%) Co-author manuscripts and develop materials for dissemination of findings to community partners. (5%) Perform other duties, as assigned. (5%)
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications Masters of Public Health or related master-level degree (e.g. social work, psychology). Experience conducting housing-based related research. Experience conducting research within low-income and communities of color. Experience in the conduct of behavioral/health promotion clinical trials.
Other Requirements Prior research experience in social science, public health, behavioral, and/or health services research. Familiarity with social determinants of health, policy evaluation, smoking research, and related topics. Enthusiasm to collaborate within a dynamic team with academic/community collaborations Strong writing and editorial skills. Strong organizational, administrative and basic budgeting/financial management experience. Ability to problem-solve, work independently, and as a team player. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zotero/Endnote. Knowledge of SPSS or SAS, and data collection systems (e.g., REDCap; Qualtrics)
