This Research Assistant I will be responsible for: - Under immediate supervision, performing a variety of routine andspecialized laboratory tests, specimen preparations and experimentalprocedures for the purpose of research.
- Assisting in the use of specialized laboratory equipment for Sanger Sequencing, PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, Sample quality control.
- The analysis of data generated by this equipment.
- Journal searches/scientific writing
- Contributes to the team within and between departments and organizations.
To qualify, you must have: - The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in a STEM, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
- Experience with Sanger Sequencing/PCR, microsatellite genotyping a plus.
- Strong wet lab/pipetting skill
- The analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basicscientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; both verbal and written are essential.
- Basic computer skills such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
