Position Description [Purpose and Scope] The Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences is recruiting a faculty member to serve as the RSVP Assistant Director, Violence Prevention in our Student Health practice. This individual will oversee and organize all violence prevention and outreach efforts and initiatives of the Departmentâs Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention and Services unit within USC Student Health. They will provide leadership and supervision to the RSVP Violence Prevention team, as well as manage collaborations and grants related to RSVP violence prevention and outreach initiatives. The position will develop and implement a comprehensive set of programs and services for USC designed to increase awareness of bystander intervention, domestic, dating, and sexual violence and stalking, and increase the development of healthy attitudes and behaviors that reduce gendered-based violence and power-based harm through the provision of evidence based sexual violence/dating violence/stalking prevention education and training to students, faculty and staff, either on-campus, off-campus or online. This includes but is not limited to prevention workshops; outreach activities; partnerships with campus and academic departments and programs, student organizations, undergraduate and graduate student government, off-campus programs, organizations related to RSVPâs mission, local law enforcement agencies, and more. Description of USC Student Health USC Student Health provides a comprehensive campus health program including mental health services, medical services, prevention and health promotion, health communications, the student health insurance plan, and public health services to improve the health of the USC population. Mental Health services support students so that they may achieve their academic and personal goals through the Department of Psychiatryâs Counseling and Mental Health Division (CMH). CMH services include: individual, couples and group counseling; assessment and referral to other professionals and institutions; crisis intervention (including some after-hours coverage); biofeedback; psychiatric evaluations and medication follow-up; consultation; outreach and prevention; and training and supervision. Services at CMH are provided by and under the auspices of the Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences of the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Description of RSVP Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention and Services (RSVP), a program of USC Student Health, specializes in gender-based violence and power-based harm of students. RSVPâs mission is to work in collaboration with other on-campus and off-campus partners and stakeholders to reduce and prevent sexual, domestic, and dating violence, and stalking. RSVP serves as a haven for students by providing confidential counseling and advocacy services for those who have been harmed and for students to make changes on campus that impact interpersonal violence through our educational programs and peer outreach program, VOICE. We offer tailored workshops, awareness-raising events, and outreach activities. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction of the RSVP Program Director, the RSVP Assistant Director, Violence Prevention will:
Minimum Qualifications: Masterâs or higher degree in education, public health, social work, human services, criminal justice, gender/ethnic studies, psychology, or related field Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and multicultural competency in working with students of color, students from all economic classes, first generation students, LGBTQ students, and international students Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills 1-2 years of experience coordinating a human services program or college student services program Preferred Qualifications: yearsâ experience with gender-based, violence prevention programs or similar types of programs 3-4 years of experience managing prevention programs or similar programs Understanding of adult learning theory with young adults Strong public speaking skills Ability to utilize social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.), and webinar platforms for training purposes Strong appreciation and skills for interacting with young adults (e.g., college students, graduate students, international students, etc.) Curriculum development and assessment skills Resilient, self-aware, and can thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment Ability to balance autonomy, accountability and collaboration Bilingual or multilingual Application Deadline: Until position is filled.
