Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow for Public Health Research Institute within the New Jersey Medical School.

Under the direction of Principal Investigator (PI) the Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct experiments aimed to characterize the mechanisms of regulation of iron homeostasis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Performs molecular biology experiments including PCR, DNA isolation, gene cloning as well as RNA analysis.
• Will purify recombinant proteins and conduct protein-protein and protein- DNA interaction assays.
• Works with cell lines.
• Will conduct microbiological assays in aseptic conditions and culture Mycobacterium tuberculosis in BSL-3 safety conditions.
• Performs data analysis for statistic significance and document results for publication.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• We are seeking a recently graduated PhD.
• Should have a working knowledge of one or more of the following disciplines achieved through undergraduate and graduate studies, and laboratory experience gained through direct laboratory experience in cell biology, bacteriology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and basic immunology.
• Oral and written communication skills a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

• The candidate must have solid expertise in molecular biology, protein biochemistry and microbiology techniques. Previous experience in cell line culture, immunological assays and microscopy are highly desired.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten (10) pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Laboratory environment. Moderate noise.

Salary: $53,460.00
