Position Summary/Description:

Biostatisticians support data analysis, report production, planning, coordination, and conduct of multi-center research studies. The degree of specialized statistical knowledge, communication abilities, and the level of original thinking, input on direction and content of an analysis will be critical to the level of independence expected in working on manuscript collaboration and analyses. This position is being recruited for at the Journey Competency Level under the Career Banding program.

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned; or Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and two years of research/analysis, preferably with one year in a supervisory role; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills:

A thorough knowledge of applied aspects of observational and clinical study design, data analysis, research data management and statistical programming is required through a combination of academic training and work experience.

This position will demonstrate expertise in communication and technical knowledge. Demonstration of effective communication skills in the presentation of statistical results in both written and oral form is important.

Work experience in applied data analysis using linear and generalize linear models, and survival analysis methodology is required.

The demonstrated mastery of SAS program language and statistical procedure skills will be critical to successful performance in this position.

The employee will need to understand and protect confidentiality of study data to ensure the protection of human subjects involved in the research.

Preferred :

Experience working on complex clinical research projects is highly desirable.

Prior experience in analysis of sample survey data and/or clinical trials data in a collaborative environment beyond graduate course work is preferred.
