Laboratory Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, evening shift, CLIENT SUPPORT SERVICES SUPERVISOR. This position will supervise the Reference Laboratory staff including hiring, progressive discipline, performance management, training and continuing education.
SCHEDULE: 12:00pm - 8:30PM, Tuesday - Saturday
RESPONSIBILITIES Assess staffing needs with each personnel change and/or in response to workload and departmental changes Create monthly staff schedules Schedule organization orientation and document employee attendance with department Education Coordinator Interviewing and Hiring In cooperation with Manager and/or other Supervisors, conduct interviews, make appropriate hiring recommendations, and accurately evaluate pre-hire competencies for Clinical Lab Technician 2's and Leads Continually develop and re-evaluate strategies to meet requirements and shape superior performance for all employees in the service Conduct new employee department/division orientation and oversee it’s completion and documentation Ensure all mandatory organization and division training requirements met for all area personnel Identify individual staff in need of training and development resources(cultural diversity, communication and feedback, work style conflict resolution, team building, leadership, etc.) Identify general staff training needs for existing and new employees and arrange for in-service presentations (customer service, clinical test information, equipment, tasks specific to technical laboratory functions Identify individual staff in need of training and development resources(cultural diversity, communication and feedback, work style conflict resolution, team building, leadership, etc.) Identify general staff training needs for existing and new employees and arrange for in-service presentations (customer service, clinical test information, equipment, tasks specific to technical laboratory functions Create and facilitate staff tasks force/CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) teams when appropriate Respond to technical (specimen/procedural) problems that the technical and operations leads are not able to address Perform other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS Two years of college-level science in an applicable field AND one year of experience as a Specimen Processing Technician Lead OR High School graduation or GED Certification AND two years of clinical laboratory experience in a Clinical or Public Health Laboratory.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Conditions of Employment It will be necessary to work in other departmental locations in order to meet patient service requirements, especially at Harborview Medical Center. In addition, less frequent work effort will be required at other UW School of Medicine locations (e.g., South Lake Union) and Seattle-area healthcare institutions. Will be considered essential staff and as such will be required to report to work when scheduled despite inclement weather. Must be able to meet with all shifts on a regular basis
