Public Health Nurse I-II (Generalist) Public Health Nurse I-II (Tuberculosis and Communicable Disease program) Starting Salary Range: $61,647 to $82,063 (dependent upon qualifications)
The ideal candidate will have experience in public health clinical programs and experience with electronic medical records. Candidate should have the ability to adapt to different types of clinical situations on a daily basis. This public health nurse generalist will be assigned to a multi- disciplinary public health team and responsibilities will include working in the Immunization, Family Planning and STI programs.
Public health nursing is primarily population focused and includes caring for individuals, families, and communities using nursing, social, and public health sciences. Nurses are assigned to a multi-disciplinary public health team and work to provide individualized clinical, care coordination and case management services. Additionally, all nurses participate in public health emergency response activities and perform public health nursing services in accordance with public health standards and practices, within the scope of the Colorado Nurse Practice Act. The Public Health Nurse I may provide clinical services such as immunizations to adults and children, reproductive health and STI services, tuberculosis testing/treatment and communicable disease testing and follow up; provide medical care coordination services for a caseload of children and youth with special health care needs; provide individualized, in-depth case management services to identify and address medical and psychosocial needs for a caseload of children, mothers, and families and connect them with appropriate resources and services.
The Public Health Nurse II is proficient with assignments, displays a high level of initiative, effort, adaptability, and commitment. The position assumes expanded responsibilities and skills, increased involvement with Health Department operations and initiatives, obtain additional certifications, and work autonomously. In addition, the Public Health Nurse II may provide clinical services such as immunizations to adults and children, reproductive health and STI services, tuberculosis testing/treatment and communicable disease testing and follow up; provide medical care coordination services for a caseload of children and youth with special health care needs; provide individualized, in-depth case management services to identify and address medical and psychosocial needs for a caseload of children, mothers, and families and connect them with appropriate resources and services. May serve as team lead.
