The Tufts University School of Medicine's Department of Public Health and Community Medicine invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenured faculty appointment at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications for the developing accelerated Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program in Phoenix, AZ to serve as the Director of Admissions (DoA) for the DPT Program. This two-year DPT program is a blend of online and on-campus activities, which allows the faculty member to live remotely to the Tufts School of Medicine Phoenix expansion campus. However, DPT faculty members must be able to travel and stay in Phoenix, AZ, for designated periods each semester. The successful candidate is expected to enhance current teaching and mentoring activities within the DPT program, as well as develop a scholarly agenda and participate in community and professional service appropriate for a university faculty member. The DoA will oversee recruitment and admissions for Tufts DPT Phoenix Campus. Successful candidates should possess excellent marketing and communication skills along with strong computer skills to meet the needs of our online didactic instructional format. We desire a team-oriented colleague who is willing and able to collaborate and share instructional methods and student-learning activities. We also are eager to identify candidates who show a genuine appreciation of evidence-based teaching, integration of technology within the classroom and building a student-centered community within the online classroom. The Tufts University School of Medicine is located on the Health Sciences Campus in the heart of downtown Boston. Also located on the campus are the School of Dental Medicine, the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Jean Mayer Human Nutrition Research Center (HNRCA) on Aging. The Department of Public Health and Community Medicine houses the Public Health Programs that confer the Master of Public Health (MPH), the Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH), Master of Medical Science (Physician Assistant), and the Master of Science in Health Informatics and Analytics. All faculty in the Department are non-tenured track and seek to create an educational and workplace environment that fosters active learning, discussion, and debate, critical thinking, inclusion and the capacity to work in a multidisciplinary practice environment.

The ideal candidate will have an academic doctorate and previous experience in marketing and/or admissions and assessment of admissions. Candidates with a DPT and American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) certification or certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities will also be considered. This individual works closely with the support of the Tufts University Public Health and Professional Degree Department's Student Services Office to ensure an equitable and inclusive process that aligns with Tufts University School of Medicine and accreditation standards. The DoA oversees the admissions committee, as Chair, within the program and is the liaison for all matters concerning student admission to the DPT Program. This position, like all Tufts DPT faculty positions, is a non-tenure-track faculty position with salary and rank commensurate with qualifications. Candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor must demonstrate the potential to become independent investigators and teachers. If candidates seek the rank of Associate Professor, he/she must have a proven track record of scholarship, extramural research funding, and graduate student advising and teaching at the Doctoral level. Additionally, the successful candidate will understand higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in physical therapy clinical education; knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy. The candidate, if a physical therapist, should be licensed or eligible for licensure in Massachusetts or the state of residence.
