The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Coordinator. Working within a large, multi-investigator group, the Research Coordinator will participate in the design, conduct, analysis, and presentation of clinical and translational research studies that focus on topics pertaining to COVID-19. Provide support to all aspects of clinical trials by completing Institutional Review Board applications, modifications, and status reports. Maintain adherence to research protocols and verify accuracy of research data. Continue excellent communication with sponsors, monitors, health care providers and outside agencies regarding ongoing research activities. Identify, screen and recruit subjects using established criteria to determine eligibility. Schedule, conduct, and document research study visits using case reports forms according to institutional and sponsor guidelines. Coordinate the distribution and recovery of study drugs. Extract medical information from medical records for use on case report forms and for safety reporting requirements. Organize the collection, processing, and shipment of biohazardous spcecimens. Determine study costs and build budgets for new studies, while complying with institutional specific billing regulations. The University of Washington's Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is home to a large clinical and translational research program investigating various aspects of critical illness. Principal Investigators are conducting mulitple clinical trials with complementary/ancillary basic science studies being conducted based on specimens and data obtained in the trials. The Research Coordinator will routinely work with research teams comprised of clinicians, scientists and post-doctoral trainees and collaborators throughout the nation. Funding sponsors include both federal and non-federal entitities. The focus of this position will be on patients with COVID-19 and will require handling of human biospecimens from this patient population. This position requires operational knowledge of the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center and requires in-depth understanding of the research process and ability to integrate this knowledge with research priorities to implement programmatic goals.
