Summary: Provide senior leadership to ASTHO’s capacity building and product development portfolio. Oversee and manage a broad range of communications, editorial, and publishing initiatives, including issue briefs, infographics, reports, newsletters, podcasts, videos, blogs, etc. Coordinates with ASTHO’s grant-funded public health program teams to develop products and inform the organization’s content strategy. Principal Functions: - Lead ASTHO’s capacity building portfolio, working with ASTHO’s public health program teams, content strategy team, and others on coordination and execution of program team deliverables and products.
- Provides strategic direction on all editorial and design products.
- Co-lead weekly content planning meetings with senior director of public relations, ensuring seamless transitions from product development to product promotion by the public relations team.
- Work collaboratively with ASTHO finance team, content development, and public relations to ensure budgeting is aligned with products and services provided by communications team.
- Lead ASTHO’s editorial and design functions, ensuring high-quality, visually appealing products and content.
- Collaborate with ASTHO’s public relations team on promotion of ASTHO products.
- Provides oversight on the development and design of public health materials and products, aligning with ASTHO’s capacity building framework.
- Leads production and publishing of ASTHO’s Public Health Review Podcast, State Public Health Blog, videos, issue briefs, reports, written products, infographics, JPHMP journal submissions, etc.
- Supports development of educational and meeting materials including microlearnings or training materials.
- Lead ASTHO’s editorial review process; ensure timely copy editing, revising for grammar, style, and clarity for documents, reports, and publications; maintain ASTHO’s style guide and branding guidelines.
- Manage ASTHO’s newsletters including content creation, dissemination, list growth and maintenance, and metrics.
- Supports organizational content strategy and editorial calendar planning, working with senior leaders across teams to develop collaborative and efficient product workflows.
- Manages and leads a team of communications professionals, including editors, content developers, and graphic designers.
- Oversees ASTHO’s design work and enforce branding guidelines; oversee design products, working with external with graphic designers/public relations agencies/consultants, adhering to deadlines and budget.
- Collaborates with cross-cutting teams and programmatic staff to ensure that the organization's internal and external communication strategy is aligned.
- Ensures timely publishing of content.
- Launches and supports ASTHO’s communications working group.
- Trains and mentor’s staff; organizes brown bags on editorial, writing, or publishing topics.
- Completes other duties, as assigned.
