The Center for Biostatistics in AIDS Research (CBAR) is a large, high profile research center with annual budgets totaling over $33,000,000, with 120+ Statisticians, Programmers, Research Scientists, faculty, students, and staff. The CBAR provides statistical analysis for the world's largest network of AIDS Clinical Researchers.
The Financial Assistant oversees the day-to-day accounts receivables and accounts payables, including vendor payments, invoicing, petty cash, journal entries and vouchers, purchase and corporate cards, travel expenses, cash receipts, internal billings, and travel reimbursements -- while providing faculty, students and staff with professional, reliable, communicative, and responsive financial and administrative assistance.
Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:- Reconciling multiple accounts and ensuring compliance with related policies
- Processing vendors invoices and individual reimbursements, coordinating requisitions, securing approvals for purchases and payments, and securing documentation in compliance with regulations.
- Assisting with maintaining and/or establishing accounting record keeping systems, and procedures for tracking and reporting
- Managing other support and biosketches for grant submissions and progress reports/RPPRs
- Maintaining several complex and detailed Excel spreadsheets
- Ensuring that standard accounting practices and University policies are followed and maintained, and serving as a department resource on related policies
- Responding to inquiries about invoicing or reimbursement issues
- Assisting with monthly and year-end reconciliation and closing
- Working on other related duties, tasks, and special projects as needed
PLEASE NOTE: The primary work location for this position is Boston, Massachusetts. Until our return to campus, which is still to-be-determined, this interview process and position will be conducted virtually – including virtual interviews, remote onboarding, and remote work. The remote nature of this position is only temporary. Local, on-campus work will be required once the School and this role return to an operational status that supports it.
